What to Expect

What to expect

You’ve taken the first step and made yourself and your mental health a priority, you’ve done the research and found a therapist. Now you’re here for your first session.

What will the first session be like?

Your first session is for your therapist to get to know you and more about what brought you to therapy. During this session, we’ll discuss policies, and confidentiality and answer any questions you have about the process. We’ll also discuss your goals and expectations and work together to make a plan for you to achieve your goals.

What will therapy be like?

While my training was focused in Strengths-Based therapy models such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Collaborative Language Systems, therapy is not a one-size-fits-all. We will work together to find what works best for you (and what works may change with time and progress) and moves you toward the goals that have brought you here. Strengths-Based therapy focuses on the individual’s strengths and abilities and using those resources to empower the client on their journey addressing what brought them to therapy.

During our time together, some days will be harder than others as you work through challenging experiences, emotions, or behaviors... and at times there will be tears and frustration. But as you do the work, there will also be times of joy and celebration. I will be there walking alongside you with guidance and support.
